AGC Launch National Geotourism Strategy

The AGC is pleased to announce the launch of the National Geotourism Strategy. The Strategy will promote and support further development of major geotourism projects in Australia and deliver benefits to regional tourism. AGC President, Professor David Cohen said, “While we have some of the most beautiful cities in the world, there are abundant natural wonders in the geology of our ancient continent that lie just beyond the end of the pavement. Some of these are in existing World Heritage Listed areas and in other GeoRegions.” Our tourism sector can provide great access to that geoheritage and extend existing nature-based tourism to provide new options for visitors that draw on our unique geology, landscape, flora and fauna, cultural heritage (including those of Indigenous Australians), and mining history.
